Hajar grew up in the Marrakech medina and qualified as a national guide in 2014 after studying art history in Rabat. She spent six years working for larger operators before starting Hajar Morocco Tours, largely out of frustration at watching itineraries get sold on to whoever was cheapest that week. She still guides personally on most Sahara departures and leads all the medina walks in Marrakech. If you message the site, it is usually her replying.

Youssef is from Tinghir, at the mouth of the Todra Gorge, and has been driving the Marrakech–Merzouga–Fes triangle since 2011. He holds the transport touristique authorisation and maintains the vehicles himself. He is the reason our itineraries have realistic driving times. He has also, over the years, quietly built the network of village houses and camps that most of our southern trips depend on.

Fatima Zahra studied tourism management in Fes and joined in 2018. She writes the day-by-day plans, negotiates with the riads, and is the one who notices when a proposed itinerary has four hours of driving hidden in it. She handles accessibility and dietary requirements personally, and speaks German, which turns out to matter more often than we expected.

Omar was born in Merzouga and his family has kept camels in the Erg Chebbi for four generations. He has guided in the desert since 2009 and runs both of the camps we use. He brings a telescope out on clear nights and can find Saturn faster than anyone should be able to. If you want to understand how people actually live out there rather than just look at the dunes, ask him.

Karim is from Imlil, at the foot of Toubkal, and holds the Moroccan federation’s high-mountain qualification. He has summited Toubkal more than two hundred times, including in full winter conditions. He is firm about acclimatisation days, which is why we build one into every summit itinerary and why our turn-back rate is low.
