If you only come to Morocco once, this is the circuit. Ten days is enough to cross the Atlas, spend real time in the desert, and still give Fes and Chefchaouen the two nights each they deserve. We keep driving days under six hours wherever the geography allows, and we build in two completely free afternoons — because a schedule with no gaps is how people go home exhausted.
This Morocco itinerary, 10 days end to end, runs one continuous loop from Marrakech: over the Atlas to the Sahara, two nights at Erg Chebbi, north to Fes, on to Chefchaouen, then down the coast through Rabat and Casablanca. No internal flights. No road driven twice.
Ten days is where the country stops feeling rushed. Under a week you are choosing between the desert and the north. At ten you take both, and still get two completely free afternoons.
The order matters more than people expect. We run it anti-clockwise so the long desert drive lands mid-trip, when you have found your rhythm, rather than on day two while jet lag is still with you.
Competitors publish what a mapping app says. These are the hours the road actually takes, stops included.

That is roughly 32 hours of driving across ten days, and four of those days contain almost none. Day six is the hard one: eight hours north through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas cedar forest. There is no shorter way from the dunes to Fes, and any itinerary that tells you otherwise is quoting an empty road at midnight.
Every operator trims somewhere. These are the ones we refuse to.
Two nights in the Sahara, not one. An overnight dash means arriving at dusk and leaving at dawn — you see the dunes twice, in the same light. The second night buys you a sunrise, a full free day and the sky.
Two nights in Fes. Fes el-Bali is the largest car-free urban area in the world and it does not open up in an afternoon. The medina day is guided; the evening is yours.
A night in Chefchaouen, arriving before dark. The blue lanes are worth the detour only if you are there for the early light. Arriving at 22:00 and leaving after breakfast is how most seven-day circuits handle it, and it is a waste of a drive.
Most transatlantic flights land at Casablanca, not Marrakech. If yours does, we reverse the loop and you finish in Casablanca. Same days, same price, same nights — Casablanca simply becomes day one and day ten rather than day nine.
Marrakech has more direct European connections and a shorter airport run. Casablanca has the widest US and long-haul choice. Tell us which ticket you are holding and we will build the circuit around it.
The published pace suits most people. It does not suit everyone.
For families with children under eight, or anyone who would rather not sit for seven hours, we split day three with a night in Ouarzazate and drop the Casablanca leg. That keeps the trip at ten days with no leg longer than five hours. It costs nothing extra beyond the additional hotel night. Ask when you enquire.

That covers nine nights — riads, a kasbah hotel and a desert camp — a private air-conditioned vehicle and licensed driver-guide throughout, local city guides in Marrakech, Fes, Volubilis and Casablanca, breakfast daily plus four dinners and one lunch, the camel trek, and all airport transfers, fuel and tolls.
Monument entry comes to about €55 per person and is not included. Neither are flights, insurance or tips. March to May and September to November are the months we recommend; July and August are workable but the desert legs get uncomfortable. The best time to visit Morocco goes through it month by month.

We had done Morocco once before with a big operator and spent half of it in a coach park. This was the opposite. Small group, everything explained, and they were honest when something was not worth the detour. The two free afternoons were the best decision on the itinerary.
Vegetarian throughout and never once had a difficult meal — they had spoken to every riad in advance. That level of preparation says a lot about how the rest of the trip was run.

Long day but worth every hour. Our guide walked us right up to the granary at the top of the ksar while the other groups stayed at the bottom. Lunch by the river was included and genuinely good, not a tourist canteen.
